The Norco Academic Senate, composed of elected faculty representatives, makes recommendations to the College administration and to the Board of Trustees regarding academic and professional matters (defined by AB1725, Section 53200) and facilitates communication among faculty, students, administration, and the Board of Trustees in all matters related to community college education.

All members of the Norco community are invited to attend. Faculty are particularly encouraged to attend and express their views and concerns on a regular basis to their elected Senate representatives.

Mr. Rex Beck, Associate Professor, Business Administration

Earned a new logistics industry professional credential during the 08/09 academic year (CPSM - Certified Professional in Supply Management) from the Institute for Supply Management.

Mr. Michael Cluff, Associate Professor, English

Has performed in numerous plays such as:

"Of Mice and Men" and "The Reindeer Monologues" with the Fontana Mummers
"A History of Riverside" for the City of Riverside
"The Crucible" and "Much Ado About Nothing" for La Sierra University

Mr. Cluff has also published a book of poetry, Casino Evil, Petroglyph Books, July 2009.

He has also published poetry is included in "Muse", "Epicenter", "Slouching Towards Mt. Rubidoux", "Phantom Seed", "Eskimopi", "Rattlesnake" and "Medusa's Kitchen" magazines.

Dr. Sharon Crasnow, Associate Professor, Philosophy

Published the following articles:

"The Persistence of Absence," American Philosophical Association Newsletter on Feminism and Philosophy, Vol. 9, No. 1, Fall 2009.

"What Do the Numbers Mean?" American Philosophical Association Newsletter on Feminism and Philosophy, Vol. 8, No. 2, Spring 2008.

"Feminist Philosophy of Science: 'Standpoint' and Knowledge," Science and Education, Vol. 17, No. 10, November 2008.

Dr. Crasnow also presented "Evidence for Use: The Role of Case Studies in Political Science Research," at the Second Biennial Meeting of the Society for Philosophy of Science in Practice, University of Minnesota, MN, June 20, 2009.

Mr. Andres Elizalde, Associate Professor, English

Conducted a critical thinking lecture/workshop, "Critical Thinking: Challenges and Opportunities" at the National Association for Development Education conference.

Dr. Alexis Gray, Associate Professor, Anthropology

Is speaking at the Discovery Science Center on "Women Explorers" and "Eigth Grade Girls Women in Science" in Redlands.

Dr. Gray also works with the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department, Coroner Division where she has had nine positive body identifications in the last year, including a case that had previously gone unsolved for twenty years.

Her Cooperative Art piece "Pyrocardium" has been exhibited three times.

Dr. Deborah Tomsett-Makin, Associate Professor, Political Science

Presented "Finding a Silver Bullet: Testing Assessment Tools" written jointly with Jennifer Danley-Scott at the Western Political Science Association Conference, Vancouver, British Columbia.

Mr. Matthew Nadelson, Instructor, English

Among his numerous poetry publications are the following:

"Like Water on the Brain," Beloved of the Earth: 150 Poems of Grief and Gratitude, Holy Cowl Press, 2009.
"Elegy for the One-Eyed Rat," "Drinking in the Star-Hungry Dark," and "A Lonely Night Lost in the Woods," Connotation Press, September 2009.

Mr. Robert Prior, Associate Professor, Mathematics

Recently published two math textbooks with Addison Wesley which are currently in use at our campus and other campuses around the country. They are Basic Mathematics and Pre-Algebra.

Ms. Sue Roginki, Instructor, Dance

Had the opportunity to present her work at "Society of Dance History Scholars" at Skidmore College in New York and at Stanford University in the Bay Area. She has performed and shared new choreography at Highways Performance Space, Unknown Theater, and Anatomy Riot at the Open Space (LA), and was recently invited to be guest choreographer fro Kinetic Conversations.

Mr. Walter (Buck) Stevens, Associate Professor, Theater

Produced and directed a musical production of "Oliver" for Dana Point Children's Theatre.

Dr. Sheryl Tschetter, Associate Professor, English

Successfully defended her dissertation, "Developing Adaptive Expertise Among Community College Faculty Through Action Inquiry as a Form of Assessment."

Ms. Karin Skiba, Associate Professor, Art

Has been part of two faculty exhibits at the Riverside Quad Gallery in the past two years and has also shown at the Division 9 Gallery in downtown Riverside.

Dr. Zina Chacon, Associate Professor, Counseling

Published her dissertation and earned her Ed. D. in Educational Leadership with an emphasis in Higher Education in August 2008 from the University of Southern California. The title of her dissertation is "Correlations Among Selected Demographic Variables, counseling Utilization, and Intent to Transfer."
