The Associate in Science Degree in Early Childhood Studies will be awarded upon completion of the requirements for the certificate, plus completion of the general education and elective requirements as described in the college catalog or RCC website. A minimum of 60 units of college works is required for the A.S. Degree.

Early Childhood Intervention Assistant Certificate
This certificate is appropriate for students who wish to work as an assistant or a paraprofessional in early intervention, early childhood special education, and child development programs serving children with special needs.

Requirements:
EAR 20      Child Development - 3 units
EAR 28      Introduction to Principles and Practices in ECE - 3 units
EAR 24      Creative Activities Through Curriculum- 3 units
EAR 42      Home, School and Community Relations - 3 units
EAR 40      Intro to Inf & Children w/ Disabled & Other Special Needs- 3 units       
EAR 41      Internship in Early Intervention/Special Educ- 4 units
EAR 33      Caring for Infants and Toddlers in Group Settings -3 units
EAR 43      Children with Challenging Behaviors - 3 units     
Total= 25 units

Elective Courses (6 Units required from the following)

Total Program Certificate Requirements=31 units

Requirements for the Associate of Science Degree in Early Childhood Intervention include completion of the 31-unit certificate above, plus required general education courses and electives; all of which total a minimum of 60 units.
