Welcome
Riverside City College offers a broad range of lower division college courses for students interested in pursuing a variety of careers in education. In addition to career prospects, our programs provide a rich diversity of ways in which students may serve their communities while gaining rich and important experiences for themselves. The chance to be partnered with Stokoe Elementary has given students of both institutions a unique learning experience. With the added staffing at the Innovative Learning Center, we have been able to provide additional services and opportunities for RCC students and the community we serve. RCCD recruited National Pediatric Support Services to serve as early childhood care providers for infants, toddlers and preschool age children.
Mission Statement
Riverside City College offers lower division college courses at the Innovative Learning Center (ILC). We aspire to change the way the education of teachers is pursued by introducing clinical curriculum and practicum in the first two years of their college experience. We offer a multi-faceted educational facility with students learning about and observing children ages 6-weeks through grade 5. The Innovative learning Center is operated as in inter-institutional center by Alvord Unified School District, Riverside City College, and local university partners. We are interested in identifying, recruiting, preparing, and transferring an ethnically diverse, highly skilled population of future teachers and other child development professionals. We believe that our model, integrated collegiate study of content and pedagogy early in one's career will not only help alleviate a shortage of teachers, but also improve the quality of child development and teacher education services in our communities.
