Riverside Community College Norco Campus
ACCREDITATION 2009

President's Statement

Dr. Brenda Davis
On behalf of the entire campus community, I am delighted to welcome you to our accreditation website. The information presented on this site represents the culmination of a journey that began in 1991 with the establishment of the Norco Campus, accelerated with the preparation of our self-study, hit mid-stride with the October 2007 Evaluation Team visit from ACCJC (which resulted in our advancement to candidacy for accreditation in January 2008), and continues with our current activities in preparation for what we expect to be the culminating visit by another ACCJC team in October 2009. In January 2010, the accrediting commission will take action on our application for initial accreditation as an independent college within the Riverside Community College District.

At RCCD Norco, we are extremely proud of our shared governance processes, by which all members of the campus community--including faculty, staff, students, administrators and community partners--participate as equals in making recommendations that help guide institutional decision-making. We are likewise proud of the strides made by our Board of Trustees and District administration in facilitating the transition to a multi-college district by developing workable models for strategic planning, resource allocation and the decentralization of key functions to the colleges/campuses. Finally, and perhaps most importantly, we are proud of our faculty for embracing student learning outcomes assessment as a means of improving the quality of instruction our students receive.

The various features and links contained on this website provide the reader with a comprehensive view of Norco's approach to strategic planning, long-range and operational decision-making, and stakeholder involvement. Over the past several years, we have linked planning, program review, assessment and resource allocation in a manner that maximizes participation in these processes. Having successfully established these mechanisms, we are now engaged in rigorous appraisal of their effectiveness. Because we are committed to continuous improvement, we have begun to use assessment results to make modifications to our organizational structure, processes and programs.

In the fall of 2008, RCCD Norco reached a milestone by crossing the 10,000 student enrollment threshold. We are confident that many additional accomplishments lie ahead for our students, faculty, staff and the communities we serve, giving all of us a strong sense of "Mustang Pride".
