READING

The purpose of the Reading Lab is to enhance students' reading development, to support the classroom curriculum, and to practice being an independent and active learner.

Reading classes are scheduled into the Reading Lab on a regular basis. Teachers remain in the Reading Center with their classes and use lab time for individual conferencing or tutoring while students work on prescribed assignments to learn and reinforce the reading skills taught in the classroom.

Resources

The Reading Lab has a full library of reading materials available to assist the student in reading skills development, as well as reference materials such as dictionaries and thesauruses.

Tutoring

  • Students are eligible for two one-hour individual sessions per week.
  • DSPS students can have three tutoring sessions per week.
