The purpose of the Reading Lab is to enhance students' reading development, to support the classroom curriculum, and to practice being an independent and active learner.
Reading classes are scheduled into the Reading Lab on a regular basis. Teachers remain in the Reading Center with their classes and use lab time for individual conferencing or tutoring while students work on prescribed assignments to learn and reinforce the reading skills taught in the classroom.
The Reading Lab has a full library of reading materials available to assist the student in reading skills development, as well as reference materials such as dictionaries and thesauruses.
Reading paraprofessionals assist reading students in the lab, and tutor students in all reading classes as well as ESL/Reading 71, 72, and 73.
The Reading Paraprofessionals are available Monday through Thursday 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. and Fridays 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
